Top 1: Planning & Preparation
  • Communication direction Messe was a disaster
  • Too late and changing contacts
  • Unreliable commitments
  • Communication to Ellen
  • Good, after she knew that she would be "the crew"
  • For faster decision vmtl. even better
  • To Stagetec
  • In time on the spot, communication "was a dream"
  • Stagetec has prepared a lot according to our specifications
  • Final configuration made with those on site
  • Feedback on problems (eg Embedder only glass) came in time 
  • Have given us the freedom to arbitrary configuration of the desks
  • But we could not exhaust ourselves in the approach

  • Communication to SDI tracks and previews was messy, but has brought the desired result
  • Unnecessary unfriendly tone in discussions

  • Audio vs. Video Problem?
  • Audio is generally a difficult topic in VOC
  • "Audio is shit, we have to do something" vs. "Why is audio so complicated now?"
  • Ideology problem?
  • Properitarian technique vs. Hacky approach
  • Approach: Understand devices better and learn to confen
  • Ideas People have an idea and "only that's how it works"
  • Question came: Why not take what the VOC already has (hardware)
  • Question came: Why does the setup have to be so complex? Is not it also a simpler setup?
  • Congress is bigger. Amount of inputs (= microphones) is given by Content / Orga team (The Orga / Content does not want that because three hand microphones are passed around on the stage, for example)
  • Be i m Congress people have interest to deal with the issue of "Audio" - they should really let off steam.
  • The Congress is an event of great prestige, and speakers therefore expect "more"
 
Top 2: Construction
  • Folded "just fine"
  • Hall A, B, C: no labeling on the XLR splitters, therefore no connection of the StageTec base devices possible
  • List came on day 0 around 16:30
  • Sa a l D, E: a lot of crafting
  • Due to lack of agreement no splits, could be tinkered only on day 0
  • Actual construction had in the end * nothing * to do with the planning
  • Backup
  • AES Backup was quite fast, but due to the above mentioned. Delay does not ring through
  • 4 hours Calculator find, build, before confen
  • -> first confen !!!! 11! Eleven
  • 2 hours IP-addresses and channels tap
  • -> Clarify if you can not automate something there
  • Unfortunately, Dante backup was not established
  • Hall C (?) Lacked the audio embedder path

Top 3: Operation
  • Entry into the company "Okay"

  • QA solved in the beginning unclean
  • QA Regler finden offenbar für Engel schwierig
  • Konfiguration war vorbereitet, hat aber trotzdem nicht gereicht
  • Beim Audio ist es noch wichtiger sofort zu schalten als bei Video
  • Stimmung im ACR
  • manchmal eher gelockert und mäßig konzentriert
  • manchnal aber auch hoch konzentriert
  • Eine Stunde Arbeit ist eine harte Stunde Konzentration
  • Teilweise fiel die Konzentration recht schnell ab
  • "Während des Vortrags ist wenig zu tun (1 Mensch 1 Mikro)
  • Zur QA ist aber dann plötzlich viel zu tun
  • In anderen Setups bekommt man oft mit, wenn um einen rum was passiert (Herold steht auf, Regie wird nervös)
  • Diese Stimuli fehlten hier aber
  • Diese Trigger sind im Chaos-Umfeld aber auch teilweise ganz anders als auf anderen Events
  • Viele Wiederkehrende Engel
  • "es waren genug" - warum weis keiner nicht
  • Engelschulungs-Modus
  • Nachschulung waren bisschen störend und evtl. ein paar zu viel
 
Top 4: Abbau
  • Lief, nix zu beklagen
 
Top 5: Backup
  • AES Backup war Beta und auch entsprechend problematisch
  • Es wurden Frames gedroppt
  • Unklar wo - Switch, NIC, OS
  • -> Nachstellen!
  • Teststellungen bekommen
 
Top 6: Fazit / Zukünftiges
  • Aufgabe evtl. zu komplex für Mischer-Engel
  • Mischer-Engel und -Supervisor haben aber trotzdem einen guten Eindruck gemacht
  • ACR-Ton vs. Saal-PA Vergleich
  • ACR war Proof of Concept für zentrale Audioregie mit Engeln
  • Saal A-C - Beschaller waren sehr gut
  • Mit guter Automatisierung hintendran ist ein ausreichend anständiger Mix machbar
  • Die Mixe sind so nicht so zu benutzen
  • Es gibt auch keine (automatische) direkte Kontrolle des Ergebnisses mehr
  • Es braucht trotzdem Leute, die nachhören können
  • Ggf. müssen auch Plugins im Betrieb nachkonfiguriert werden müssen
  • Einwurf VST-Hosts sind Bäh und keiner(tm) ist für einen Live-Betrieb geeignet
  • Ausnahme Waveserver
  • geziehlte Auswahl der Plugins – erst mal Ideen:
  • Und irgendeinen Leveler
  • Alternativ könnte man auch mit einem kleinen Pult manuell nachregeln
  • Aufwand ist aber fast gleich zum aktuellen Setup
  • Ergebnisse wären aber evtl. bisschen besser
  • Bei Saal D & E war die Qualität des PA-Mixes teilweise durchwachsen, würde aber auch für die meisten Fälle ausreichend
  • Insbesondere für Special-Talks wäre aber ein Fullsplit mit Mehrkanal-Aufzeichnung aller Inputs aber sehr wichtig, so dass diese komplett nach gemischt werden können
  • Der Aufwand, vor allem unendliche interne Diskussionen Monate im vorraus, lohnt sich nur bedingt
  • Sich auf einen Hardware-Pfad einschießen, z.B. AES67, würde die Entwicklung von passenden Lösungen auch für den Rest des Jahres ermöglichen
